Stuart Strutin and Steve Florin formed PANORAMA ENTERTAINMENT in 1987. We formed the company to distribute “niche” type product into the marketplace. Our individual film industry backgrounds were well suited to this philosophy, and we had known each other prior to forming Panorama.
Panorama is heavily involved in the selling, marketing and distributing of feature films. We distribute directly to the US theatrical market, then proceed to sell home video and all broadcast markets. Panorama distributes a wide variety of feature products ranging from high concept adventures, to dramas, comedies, art, family product and documentaries. Our approach has always been to involve the filmmakers in the distribution and marketing process – never losing sight that the film we are representing is your film.
Panorama places pictures in the theatrical, video, foreign and ancillary marketplace on a picture-by-picture basis. Each film has an identity of its own. This is especially important for those pictures that we theatrically release. We release films city by city, using both national and local publicists, with intense, carefully constructed grass roots marketing campaigns keyed to each individual city. This carries over into selling the ancillary markets. We make our licensing deals with a wide variety of companies with this in mind.
Since we make a conscious effort to limit the number of films we do distribute at any one time, part of our goal is to establish an association with the filmmaker. We believe that the film becomes more important than either the distributor or the filmmaker; thus, our collaborative efforts must push the product forward. |
